The agenda for the workshop in Copenhagen.Download
On 10th of May 2015, the first Nornet LCA workshop was held with 20 participants from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. At Aalborg University Copenhagen, the network met and were introduced to the project Nornet LCA and the ideas behind it.
The Energy Agency in Denmark, Boverket (Sweden), Sintef (Norway) and VTT (Finland) made presentations on regulations and LCA in the Nordic countries. Among others, there was identified a need for a Nordic collaboration in the development of regulations.
At the workshop, the network did also discuss the use of LCA in the built environment, and the industry challenges that are present in the area. The network expressed that LCA is a rather complex system, and it is a big challenge to handle all LCA information and package it – and use it correctly. For a better use of LCA, the information systems should be simplified and made more usable for practicians, like for example for architects. Although, the network could conclude on that it is more important to do LCA also with the help of insufficient data than not to make it at all. Regarding LCA tools, it became clear that one challenge is that existing tools are made in the national languages.
